Ewe-Maine Icelandics is a club in Orono, Maine that is comprised of a dedicated group of University of Maine students who manage and take care of a wonderful flock of Icelandic sheep. Currently, we have 2 rams and 21 ewes. Our Icelandic flock has been an invaluable resource for our research on the Barber pole worm (Haemonchus contortus), pasture rotation, artificial insemination and wool characteristics. See the "Research" tab above for more information about our current research. The flock has also taught our students on how to properly house, feed, maintain, and entertain Icelandic sheep. For more information about the program please contact Dr. James Weber at [email protected]
Our flock resides at the J. Franklin Witter Teaching & Research Center. jfwitter.weebly.com/
